Young
Australian of the Year taking Victoria's new Marine National Parks
and Sanctuaries to schools along the Victorian coast.
Special presentations by the Young Australian of the Year (Environment)
and Aquatic Scientist, Sheree Marris is being undertaken in partnership
with Parks Victoria to deliver and introduce students the newly developed
Victoria's Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries Schools
Education Kit.
Developed by Parks Victoria the education kit includes posters
of Victoria's underwater marine treasures, a CD rom jam packed
with teaching resources, activities, a video of the marine parks
and its inhabitants and much more. The kit will be introduced to
schools with the support of Parks Victoria staff during a motivational,
humorous and inspiring look at Sheree's rise to the Young Australian
of the Year and her many other achievements
as well as her passion for Victoria's marine environment.
Special visits have
already been conducted at:
- Western Port Secondary College
- Hastings Primary School
- San Remo Primary School
- Wonthaggi Secondary College
- Williamstown North Primary School
- Williamstown Secondary College
Visits will also be conducted in
Victoria's south east and west regions
during February and March 2004.
